Rogers Behavioral Health was founded more than 110 years ago by Dr. Arthur Rogers, a mental health pioneer committed to providing quality healthcare for those suffering from mental illness. One of the country’s largest independent behavioral health systems today, Rogers has expanded nationally beyond its main hospital in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, now annually serving more than 16,000 adults, teens and children across the system. With an eye on pursuing more strategic, data-driven expansion, Rogers connected with our team in summer 2017.

Armed with our proprietary portfolio analytics tool, demographic data and a firm grasp of their business, we caught Rogers’ attention and began building a relationship as the health system’s single source of real estate expertise.

Creating efficiencies across Rogers’ real estate portfolio requires a deep understanding of market dynamics affecting the healthcare industry, from changing reimbursement rates to the collaboration among Rogers’ acute care, interim care and outpatient offerings. In a thoughtful search for new facilities, we accounted for their unique property requirements related to patient safety, price, aesthetics and accessibility. Most critically, we synthesized hyper-local data. By exploring the market dynamics of specific communities—from demographics to healthcare data to insurance/payer information—we set the foundation for Rogers to deliver the right care at the right place at the right time.

To date, we’ve helped Rogers with an expansion and new location in Illinois, as well as a new location in Florida, and there’s more to come. By partnering with JLL, Rogers has accelerated its decision-making process and speed to market of new locations. They’ve realized significant cost savings, aligning their real estate strategy with their business objectives and mission.
